Chokwe Chihongo Mask
African Chokwe mask (Angola) evidently very late. This is a male mask of the Ci Hongo type that was accompanied by a female mask Pwo called "of a beautiful woman".
It is recognizable by its flared shape. It originally had a plateau-shaped form.
The orbits are inlaid with kaolin and one notes the presence of scarifications beneath the eyes which actually illustrate tears.

Masque africain Chokwe (Angola) visiblement très tardif. Il s'agit d'un masque masculin de type Ci Hongo qui était accompagné d'un masféminin Pwo dit "de belle femme".
On le reconnaît i évasé. Il devait à l'origin en forme de plateau.
Les orbites sont incrustées de kaolin et on notera la présence de scarifications sous les yeux qui illustrent en fait des larmes.
