A single Polyphon gramophone from 1922, brand POLYPHON, model Polyphon grammofoon, in very good physical condition and tested to be functional, weighing about 15 kg, with no extra items included.
Description from the seller
Offered: A beautiful, fully playable and authentic antique gramophone from the top brand Polyphon (Holland).
This splendid oak gramophone is mechanically in excellent working order; the motor winds smoothly and runs perfectly at a constant speed. The doors at the front function as a mechanical volume control.
Special detail: The interior features the original Polyphon Holland emblem and the original metal dealer plate from the famous instrument shop J. van Zijp (Haarlemmerstraat 299, Leiden). A unique piece of Dutch audio history!
Included in this complete collector’s set:
2 full, original needle boxes: A tin of Parrot Brand and an iconic tin from His Master’s Voice (with the dog Nipper), both still fully filled with unused, sharp needles.
Antique wooden record case: Robust, authentic storage chest with a working latch.
Large, unique collection of records: A carefully preserved batch of shellac records (many in their original accompanying company sleeves) with several absolute museum pieces from early Dutch light music.
Highlights from the record collection;
Kees Pruis (Vox, Oct 1922) - De Noodrem / Het Offer. Over 100 years old, with the legendary Vox 'hen head' label and the original tax stamp. Extremely rare!
Albert Bol (Homocord, circa 1923) - Two different records by this well-known humorist, both in beautiful, original Art Deco Homocord company sleeves.
Amsterdams Straatorgel (Beka, circa 1922) - Very early and unique acoustic recording of a historic Amsterdam pierement.
Willy Derby (Parlophon, 1930s) - With rare original paperwork copyright stamp on the label.
International & postwar standouts - Including Lecuona Cuban Boys (Columbia sleeve with abstract 1950s design), Bob Crosby Bigband (Decca sleeve "There’s music in it!"), The Hotcha Trio, Vico Torriani and the Kapell of the Royal Air Force (Telefunken, 1956).
This is a unique opportunity to acquire in one go a beautiful, working and historically valuable set. Perfect for the serious collector or as a unique eyecatcher in a historic interior.
Due to the fragility of the shellac records and the gramophone, pickup ispreferred. Working to see and hear upon serious interest.
