Pair of Porcelain Plates from China "Blue and White" – Qianlong Dynasty (c. 1750-1770).
Magnificent pair of circular export porcelain plates from China (East India Company), made in Jingdezhen during the prestigious reign of Emperor Qianlong (18th century).
The central medallion is richly decorated with the classic representation of the "Hundred Antiques" (Bogu), depicting vessels with flowers, ritual jars, and scrolls on supporting tables. This motif symbolizes erudition, good taste, and the wish for good fortune.
The rim is bounded by a complex geometric border and decorated with four symmetrical floral reserves containing stylized vegetal motifs (peonies and lotuses), characteristic of late 18th-century production.
Features of the back: The tardoz (back) displays the dense porcelain body and the slightly bluish glaze typical of the period, with the foot ring revealing the raw earth and the usual charming wood-fired kiln marks.
Condition: In good overall presentation for pieces about 250 years old. They show natural age wear to the painting and minor manufacturing imperfections (iron spots). One piece presents a hairline crack in the rim, visible mainly on the back—a common and expected detail in old porcelains of this period.
