Description from the seller

Marble-powder sculpture depicting the head of Eros.
The work of Hellenistic origin was discovered in 1772 at Centocelle (Rome), from which it takes its name; it is indeed also known as the Eros of Centocelle.
It was purchased by Pope Clement XIV and consequently exhibited in the Hall of Busts and Statues of the Vatican Museums, where it is kept to this day.
In 1800, for a short period, the Eros of Centocelle was also exhibited at the Louvre after Napoleon Bonaparte’s acquisition by Pope Pius VI within the Tolentino Treaty.
Professional academic sculpture, entirely handmade by professional artisans. A piece from a museum plaster-cast workshop. The workmanship has very ancient origins and is carried out entirely by hand by sculptors, made with materials such as scagliola and Carrara marble powder.

The indicated dimensions are to be understood as including the base, if present.

Shipping is entrusted to a packaging company (professional packing).
