Description from the seller
Hata Zorok, a renowned Kyoto-based craftsman, handcrafts a sand-cast iron kettle. Zorok serves as the chairman of the Kyoto Metal Craft Cooperative and continues to create bronze, iron kettles, and flower vases. He is the only living inheritor of the "Zangroku" tradition. The kettle body is crafted using the traditional lost-wax sand casting technique, resulting in a thick, uniform texture. The outer wall features a three-dimensional relief of pine trees and rocks, while the main body, a tiger descending a mountain, is entirely plated with pure gold. The tiger's body is dynamic and expressive, with meticulous detail in the fur and muscle layers. The gilding is well-preserved, with no significant wear or discoloration.
The handle is a single piece of bronze with a relief of a dragon, its body entwined in clouds, the carving intricate and exquisite. The matching bronze lid features a continuous meander pattern along the edge, and the knob is hand-carved from a peach pit. The kettle is in excellent condition, with no sand holes, gaps, cracks, or repairs. The original cast iron shell is intact, and the original bronze dragon-patterned handle shows no deformation or breakage. The double handles are securely riveted.
