Large European Belle Époque Bone Folding Fan with Sequins & Lace – 37 cm
This impressive large European folding fan dates from the late 19th to the early 20th century (circa 1895–1915), reflecting the refined elegance of the Belle Époque period. The fan features a beautifully decorated light-coloured textile leaf embellished with delicate lace trim and shimmering gilt sequins arranged in graceful floral and scrolling patterns. The carved bone sticks are finely pierced and decorated with gilt dot ornamentation, complementing the elegant design. Condition: The fan opens and closes well. The textile leaf with lace and sequin decoration remains attractively preserved, showing light age-related wear and natural discolouration. One inner bone stick has been broken and professionally repaired (please see photographs). The remaining sticks are structurally sound.
