Description from the seller
Table "Fratino" in Solid Wood - Italian Renaissance Style
Splendid coffee table or refectory table, commonly called "Fratino," crafted in solid wood with a rich dark patina that enhances its historical character and timeless elegance. This piece stands out for its sturdy construction and the refinement of the hand-carved details.
Key Features:
Piano: Large rectangular top with molded edges. Along the edge runs a splendid beaded carved border (petal or berry motif), typical of late Renaissance style.
Basamento: Supported by two imposing vase/Lyre-shaped legs, finely carved with acanthus leaf motifs and side volutes.
Traversa Centrale: The legs are connected by a sturdy horizontal crosspiece, enriched at the center by a carved shell-shaped medallion (scallop) and terminal scrolls, which ensures extreme stability and aesthetic refinement.
Piedi: The table rests on dramatic lion’s paw feet (or beasts), a symbol of nobility and strength in period furnishings.
Stato di Conservazione:
The piece is in excellent overall condition, with normal signs of wear that attest to its authenticity and enhance its charm (small natural cracks in the wood or light surface marks as visible in the photo). The structure is solid and ready to be placed in a prestigious living room, study, or dining room."
