Paris Carnet de Recherche gathers the photos taken by K.C. at the turn of the 1970s while he was living in Paris with his family. He describes the city before gentrification, a mosaic of working-class neighborhoods prior to the major urban transformations initiated under Pompidou.

His wandering through the city’s neighborhoods expresses a vision opposite to that of French humanist photography. While with Doisneau, Ronis or Izis Paris often appears in a picturesque light, filled with optimism and joie de vivre, it seems with K. Clement to be worn down and imbued with weariness.

A somewhat dark vision of remarkable intensity on par with Van der Keuken or Robert Frank.
