1930s French Bakelite Art Deco mantel clock by Météor, with an 8-day mechanical movement, circular central dial, green numerals, alarm function, not striking, dimensions 16 x 25.5 x 8 cm, weight 600 g, in good used condition and tested working.
Description from the seller
A striking original French Art Deco mantel clock by Météor, dating from the 1930s to early 1940s.
The bold architectural design features a circular central clock case flanked by geometric stepped sections, executed in richly mottled dark burgundy Bakelite.
The silvered dial is particularly attractive, with stylized green numerals, elegant hands, a subsidiary alarm dial, and a gold-tone bezel.
The mechanical movement is marked “Made in France” and features separate winding mechanisms for the clock and alarm functions.
A superb example of French machine-age Art Deco design, combining strong geometric forms with the innovative use of early Bakelite that became increasingly fashionable during the interwar period.
Approx. dimensions: 16 x 25.5 x 8 cm (h x w x d).
In excellent tested and working vintage condition with minor signs of age and use consistent with its period. one minor chip of the front. Please study the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
