Description from the seller
A bi-folio miniature from an Indian Quran dated 1548/9, consisting of verses 27-56 of chapter 74 , Surat Al-Muddaththir (The One Covered up), and the header and first 2 verses of chapter 75, Al-Qiyamah (The 'Rising for' Judgement).
Verses 27–56 of Surah Al-Muddaththir (Chapter 74) - the right leaf and majority text of the left leaf - focus on the reality of the Day of Judgment, the consequences of arrogant materialism, and the necessity of personal accountability. These verses establish that guidance is a divine choice, and God alone is worthy of absolute reverence and ultimate forgiveness. V.1-2 of chapter 75 serve as a profound wake-up call regarding the reality of the afterlife. Allah swears by the Day of Resurrection and the "self-reproaching soul" to emphasize that accountability is certain, directing humanity to reflect on their actions and their inherent conscience.
Both leafs are very clear given their size. The scripture is written between gold clouds which separate the lines of text and contains simple gold 'aya' in burnished god and red marking the individual verses. An elaborate illuminated decorative marginal Juz in the left margin of the left folio marks the beginning of the new chapter.
There his some repair to the reverse of the right folio showing through to the front leaf, but overall the folio is in good condition.
