Wooden Italian frame dating to 1850–1900, in good condition with light signs of age and stains, external 97 cm wide by 67 cm high, internal 77 cm wide by 51 cm high, 2 cm deep, featuring walnut veneer and a central light wood inlay framed with a geometric fretwork.
Description from the seller
This frame is a refined example of Italian craftsmanship from the first half of the nineteenth century, dating between 1820 and 1840 (Carlo X / Restoration Style). The internal dimensions of 51 by 77 cm are a commercial strong point, as they fit perfectly for fireplace mirrors or for medium-large paintings and prints. The frame employs a walnut veneer technique. The central band shows a warm wood grain, laid out in a herringbone pattern at the corners to create visual continuity. It features a double geometric beading in light wood (probably maple or boxwood) that encloses a slim central band. This color contrast was used to break the austerity of the dark walnut. It bears imperfections and signs of wear.
