The Lesa SC 1903 (also known as the Stereocompact S.C. 1903) is a rare vintage stereo turntable produced in the early 1970s by the renowned Italian brand LESA (Lavorazioni Elettromeccaniche Società Anonima) from Milan.

Key features;

Integrated system: It is an all-in-one stereo system with a built-in amplifier. It was sold at the time with two corresponding external wooden speakers (not included).

3 Speeds: The turntable is suitable for playing 33, 45 and 78 rpm records.

Automatic system: The player features an automatic mechanism to start or change records.

Element and Stylus: This model is standardly equipped with the Lesa K3 ceramic crystal element (stylus system). Replacement needles for this are still readily available online through specialty shops.

Design: Typical Italian design of the era, characterized by a wooden (or wood-look plastic) housing, a transparent plexiglass dust cover, and separate controls for the volume (left/right separately) and the tone (bass/loudness).

Historical context:

LESA was a highly respected Italian manufacturer, founded in 1929, which, in addition to turntables, also produced high-quality electronic components. Unfortunately, the company had to close its doors in 1972 due to intense competition from cheaper electronics from the Far East. The SC 1903 is one of the last series the brand released.
