The obverse features an elaborate Arabic calligraphic composition with the state’s official name and the date in Islamic and Gregorian calendars, rendered in a typically elegant Islamic artistic style. The reverse shows a pyramid surrounded by electron orbits, accompanied by the emblem of Cairo University and legends pertaining to the scientific program, combining historical and technological symbolism.
