commemorative 50 Lira coin issued in 1971 to celebrate the 900th anniversary of the Battle of Manzikert (Malazgirt), one of the most pivotal events in Turkish history and in Seljuk expansion in Anatolia. The obverse features the bust of Alp Arslan, sultan of the Seljuk Empire, depicted with helmet and armor in a vigorous and detailed style that conveys authority and historical character. The reverse shows a stylized map of Anatolia crossed by converging arrows that symbolize the advance of the Seljuk forces, accompanied by the denomination ELLİ LİRA and the commemorative date 26 Ağustos 1071-1971. The specimen preserves exceptional quality in line with the MS67 grade, with fully defined reliefs, strong original luster and clean fields that reflect light evenly.
