Description from the seller
- Antique tea and coffee service, made in Art Déco style from the mid-20th century (roughly 1930s–1950s).
Characteristics of the Service Composition: The set includes four main pieces, typically divided into a teapot (the lower, rounded body in the foreground), a coffee pot and a hot water jug (the two tall lidded items), and a milk jug or creamer.
Material: The objects feature a shiny, mirror-like metallic finish, characteristic of high-quality silver-plated (silver-plated / Sheffield) metal.
Design: The clean geometric lines, spherical knobs on the lids, and the squared, aerodynamic shape of the handles are distinctive elements of European Art Déco design.
The set belongs to two of the largest and most prestigious producers of hotelware for luxury hotels
- Wiskemann (Belgium): Founded by Otto Wiskemann in Brussels, it is the most famous Belgian silversmith, renowned for the quality of its silver plating (often compared to that of the French Christofle). It has supplied for decades the most important luxury hotels, embassies, and Europe’s transatlantic liners.
- Bruckmann & Söhne (Germany): Based in Heilbronn, it was one of the leading German manufacturers of luxury silverware. Noted for collaborating with major avant-garde designers during the Art Nouveau and Art Déco periods.
