Alfred Leopold Isidor Kubin (* 10. April 1877 in Leitmeritz, Bohemia; 20. August 1959 in Zwickledt, Upper Austria) was an Austrian artist, graphic artist, writer and illustrator.

His visually unique graphic oeuvre as well as the novel The Other Side decisively influenced modernism. He is regarded as one of the most significant artists of Austria.

Awards and honors

1950: Prize of the City of Vienna for Fine Art
1951: Great Austrian State Prize for Fine Art
1955: Great Sudeten German Cultural Prize
1957: Austrian Decoration for Science and Art
Gustav Klimt Medal as an honorary member of the Vienna Secession
Among others, streets and squares were named after Kubin in Salzburg in 1969, in Vienna-Donaustadt 1977 and in Oldenburg (Oldb) 1983."}{}?}
