Apollo was the son of Zeus and Leto and the twin brother of Artemis. He was the god of music and is often depicted with a golden lyre. He was also known as the archer capable of shooting arrows over great distances with a silver bow, as the god of healing who bestowed upon humanity the science of medicine, and as the god of light and truth. One of Apollo's most important daily tasks was to yokethe four horses to his chariot to guide the sun across the sky.
