Statue, Afrodite Venere Genetrix Dea Greca Romana Statua - 25 cm - Marble

This statue is inspired by the life-size original known as the “Aphrodite of Fréjus.”
The Aphrodite of Fréjus – a Roman marble statue of Parian marble, about 1.64 meters tall, dating to a period between the end of the 1st century BC and the beginning of the 1st century AD – was discovered at Fréjus (Forum Julii) in 1650. It is considered the best Roman copy of the original Greek work, which has been lost.
Confiscated during the Revolution, it has been housed at the Louvre since 1803.

Aphrodite is the Greek goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, and procreation. Her Roman counterpart is the goddess Venus.
