200 Korun silver commemorative coin issued in 1998 to commemorate the centenary of the birth of Slovak poet Ján Smrek (1898-1982), one of the most prominent figures of 20th-century Slovak literature. The obverse features a profile portrait of the writer, rendered in a modern and elegant artistic treatment, accompanied by his signature and the birth and death dates. The design incorporates wavy lines that evoke the poetic inspiration and lyrical character of his work. The reverse presents a stylized female figure, allegory of Slovak poetry, alongside the national shield, the face value, and the issue date. The reliefs are delicate and well-crafted, standing out on smooth fields with notable shine.
