Scarce mint condition espionage stamp with original gum and perforated edge. Authenticity mark on the gum side.
With the usual couple of small original wood fibers in the paper, characteristic of this stamp. See the scans.

"During the war years, by order of the British Ministry of War, at Waterlow and Sons Ltd. in London for the British Intelligence Service, a counterfeit of the 1½ cent gray was produced. The stamp would have been used for espionage purposes. This (official?) counterfeit is issued without a watermark and perforated 11. After the war, unused specimens appeared on the market" (NVPH 2026).
