5 Leva commemorative coin minted in 1976 by the People's Republic of Bulgaria to mark the centennial of the April Uprising of 1876, one of the most significant events in the Bulgarian struggle for liberation from Ottoman rule. The obverse depicts a revolutionary figure holding a flag, symbol of the insurrectionary movement, accompanied by the commemorative inscription and the date 1876. The design stands out for its symbolic strength and the detailed rendering of the garment folds and patriotic attributes. The reverse shows the state coat of arms of the People's Republic of Bulgaria surrounded by the national legend, together with the denomination of 5 Leva and the issue date. The surfaces exhibit an extraordinary proof finish, with deeply mirrorlike fields that contrast intensely with the frosted reliefs, creating a high-quality visual effect. The preservation is exceptional, with minimal defects visible even under magnification, fully consistent with the outstanding PF68 grade. This issue is part of the prestigious Bulgarian commemorative series dedicated to fundamental episodes in national history and stands as a tribute to the events that contributed to the resurgence of the modern Bulgarian state.
