Description from the seller
It is a piece that preserves that solemn, almost diplomatic air of humidors made for tobacco houses with international ambitions. The box, fashioned in reddish mahogany with a deep, glossy finish, shows on the outside a sober yet elegant workmanship: incised lines framing the two front doors and, in the center of each, the engraved crest of C.E. Beck and Co., the German firm based in Havana at the turn of the twentieth century, when Cuba was the world epicenter of fine tobacco. Below the doors, the inscription “30 Placeres” recalls the original contents, almost like a promise of the era.
Upon opening it —and you can feel the quality of craftsmanship— the interior appears in Spanish cedar, the traditional wood for preserving cigars for its aroma, its stability, and its ability to regulate humidity. The contrast between the exterior mahogany and the interior cedar is warm, almost architectural, as if the box were designed to be both a container and a small desk-side piece of furniture.
The condition is exceptional: the wood retains its shine, the hinges operate smoothly, and the original key, still present, adds that touch of authenticity that rarely survives a century of life. It is a humidor that speaks not only of the history of Cuban tobacco but also of the foreign presence that contributed to its expansion, and today it presents itself as a collectible object with a quiet, perfectly preserved elegance.
Certified shipping and careful packaging.
