Grand trumeau mirror in carved and gilded wood, Louis XVI style with neoclassical motifs, dating to 1850–1900, 96 cm high by 44 cm wide, in good condition with age-related wear and some spots.
Description from the seller
Grand trumeau mirror in carved and gilded wood – Louis XVI style – 19th century
Very elegant trumeau mirror in carved and gilded wood, made in the Louis XVI taste and dating presumably to the 19th century.
This model is distinguished by its rich neoclassical decoration composed of an openwork pediment adorned with laurel leaves, rosettes, crossed ribbons and a central carved medallion. The uprights are decorated with stylized leaves and the frame is emphasized by a finely executed beaded frieze.
Traditional solid wood construction, visible on the back with its old boards assembled, bears witness to artisanal quality.
The old gilding presents a beautiful patina and natural wear that reinforce the authentic character of this piece. The glass appears old and shows some signs of time compatible with its age.
Dimensions
* Height: 100 cm
* Width: 43 cm
Condition
Good condition for a 19th-century object. Some wear to the gilding, light signs of use and small defects related to age. The mirror remains very decorative and immediately presentable. The photographs are an integral part of the description.

Upon close inspection of the back and the quality of the sculpture, I think this mirror is more interesting than a simple 20th-century reproduction. It shows several signs of manufacture from the mid- to late-19th century: old reverse assembly, fairly fine sculpture, elegant proportions and consistent gilding wear.
The glass is indeed original (or at least 19th century),
However, I noticed a detail that deserves verification: the motif carved in the central medallion is not a very common Louis XVI decor. A clear photo of this medallion could help determine whether it is a particular emblem (monogram, heraldic symbol or decorative motif), which could make the mirror even more interesting. mérite d'être vérifié : le motif sculpté dans le médaillon central n'est pas un décor Louis XVI très courant. Une photo nette de ce médaillon permet de déterminer s'il s'agit d'un emblème particulier (monogramme, symbole héraldique ou motif décoratif), ce qui pourrait rendre le miroir encore plus intéressant.
