Description from the seller
- Sony CDP-M29, high-fidelity compact disc player released in the late 1980s (around 1988).
This is a "Midi" audio component, meaning it was designed with a narrower width (about 35.5 cm) than the traditional 43 cm standard, made to fit Sony's compact modular systems of that era.
Technical Specifications and Construction
Device Type: High-Fidelity CD Player (Hi-Fi Stereo Separate).
Digital-to-Analog Converter (D/A): Equipped with the Dual D/A Converter System, which uses dual converters to separate the left and right channels, ensuring excellent stereo separation and sonic clarity.
Formats Compatible: Reads standard-size CDs (12 cm) perfectly and also 8 cm CD Singles formats. As your unit’s optical drive is at 100%, it plays both original CDs and computer-recorded CDs (CD-R) without issues.
Audio Outputs: Has standard analog RCA (Line Out) outputs on the rear to connect to any amplifier or audio system.
Power: Operates plugged directly into the mains (AC 220V/230V European standard).
Main Features and Panel Controls
Digital Display: Sony’s classic fluorescent display showing the track number in playback, index, elapsed/remaining time (Program Time Accumulation Display) and the famous numeric musical calendar.
Random Music Sensor (RMS): Intelligent system that lets you program the exact playback order of tracks or rapidly detect the next song.
Playback Modes (Play Mode): Shuffle: Random mode to shuffle the disc tracks.
Program: Lets you create a personalized list with the order of songs you prefer to hear.
.
Repeat: Repeats a single song or the entire album.
Front Controls: Dedicated physical buttons for Play, Pause, Stop, fast forward/rewind and track skip buttons (AMS - Automatic Music Sensor).
Electronic opening/closing of the disc drawer, smooth operation.
Aesthetic Condition
Excellent: No deep scratches or faded lettering on the front panel, for collectors who prioritize the classic, clean look of vintage equipment.
Mechanical and Optical Perfection: Instant reading without skips is the most valued factor in a player of this age, since many older models suffer from worn lasers.
