Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox travel alarm, mechanical movement in a steel case, Ref. 11157.71, dating to the 1970s, in working order with date display and multi‑day power reserve, supplied with its original black leather protective case.
Description from the seller
Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox – mechanical travel alarm with date indicator and original case – Ref. 11157.71 – Vintage 1970s
Description
Elegant and refined Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox travel alarm, made in Switzerland and presumably dating from the early 1970s.
This is an interesting example of the Maison's vintage production, appreciated not only for wristwatches but also for its mechanical travel alarms, characterized by high-quality movements and particularly ingenious construction solutions.
The watch has a foldable rectangular case, which, when opened, serves as a desk stand. The case is enhanced by a decorative finish in brown tones, resembling burl wood or tortoise, paired with gold-toned profiles and details.
The dial, particularly elegant, is gold-colored and features:
* black Roman numerals;
* black hands with a light-colored insert;
* central seconds hand;
* a central disc adjustable for setting the alarm;
* triangular indicator of the alarm function;
* date window at 3 o'clock;
* signature Jaeger-LeCoultre under the XII;
* inscription “T Swiss Made T” at the bottom.
On the back you can see the serial number 1,395,708 and the reference 11157.71.
The alarm is equipped with two rear crowns, intended for adjusting and winding the different functions.
Operation
At time of testing:
* the watch runs;
* the winding is regular;
* the date function works correctly;
* the hands set normally.
Since no professional service has been recently performed, chronometric precision, autonomy or long-term regularity cannot be guaranteed.
The watch is not declared as serviced.
Conditions
The piece is preserved in original vintage conditions.
The dial appears overall well preserved, legible and highly aesthetically impactful, with clearly visible inscriptions, numbers and date.
The outer case shows evident signs of age consistent with the object’s age, including:
* wear of the decorative finish;
* small chips and flaking, especially along edges and corners;
* scratches and surface marks;
* oxidation and patina on the metal profiles;
* wear of the gilding on the back;
* normal signs of use on the hinge and the support.
The photographs are an integral part of the description and accurately show the real condition of the item.
The watch has not been aesthetically restored, a feature that may be appealing to those who value originality and the patina of time.
The watch measures about 52 mm x 40 mm x 9 mm
Case
Included is its small black leather protective case, an interesting element not always present in today’s available pieces.
The case shows normal signs of age and use, but still preserves its protective function.
Final notes
An elegant and sought-after item, suitable for:
* Jaeger-LeCoultre collectors;
* enthusiasts of vintage mechanical alarms;
* collectors of luxury travel objects;
* connoisseurs of Swiss design of the 1960s and 1970s.
The combination of a gold dial, Roman numerals, date, alarm function, foldable case and original case makes this specimen particularly decorative and interesting.
The sale includes exclusively the travel alarm and the case shown in the photographs.
