Description from the seller
Beautiful and monumental Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) salt-glazed stoneware vase, produced by the renowned German manufacturer Simon Peter Gerz in Höhr-Grenzhausen (Westerwald region). The piece dates from the early 20th century (circa 1910–1920).
The vase features a high-quality and detailed raised-relief decoration in the iconic gray-cobalt blue color scheme. The design stands out with stylized, upward floral patterns with sunflower or daisy motifs, crowned by an elegant butterfly/night butterfly on the neck. The geometric Jugendstil lines at the base complete the design.
On the underside there is the rare early-20th-century factory mark (the recognizable triangle with a pouring jug) and the deeply impressed model number 1154. An absolute top piece for collectors of antique Westerwald stoneware and Art Nouveau design.
