AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Pile: 100% wool
Warp & weft: 100% cotton
Quality: hand-knotted
Knot count: 350,000 / m2
Pile height: 8 mm
Origin: Pakistan

Our Samarkand carpets take their name from a traditional trading place in the Orient - the city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan. Samarkand carpets were produced in the late 19th century by the renowned Swiss trading family Ziegler. Due to the political upheaval of the Persian Empire and the strong Western demand for carpets, Ziegler decided to establish its own production in Sultanabad, Pakistan, and hire some of the best carpet weavers to meet this growing demand. Samarkand carpets are woven by hand to a fine standard with approximately 350,000 knots / m2 and promise very high quality.

Today, Samarkand carpets stand for exceptional quality and modern, Oriental-inspired patterns. The carpets draw their inspiration from classic Persian rug designs. The wool used is of high quality, and the color palette based on natural plant colors is softer and more subtle than that of Persian carpets. The shorter pile makes it easy to keep the carpet clean.
