Description from the seller
Art Deco Pair of Bookends, Model 415, signed M. Clouzot, France, circa 1930–1950
Large-format pair of French Art Deco bookends (about 31 cm), signed “M. Clouzot.” The pieces belong to the documented series 413–415 ("Dance & Music"), created between roughly 1930 and 1950.
The series includes:
– Model 413 (Pianist, studio work)
– Model 414 (Dancing couple, partly with Villeroy & Boch mark)
– Model 415 (Bookends, studio production)
Model 415 shows the typical Craquelé Faience, clear Art Deco design language, and is presumably from the Compagnie des Arts Français in Paris. The continuous serial numbers and identical design language attest to its belonging to a closed Art Deco series.
A comparable model was sold on Catawiki for €1,821 (see last image).
The last images show comparative material for the documented Art Deco series 413–415 (Pianist, Dancing couple, Bookends). These images serve solely for serial classification and provenance, not as photos of the offered object.
Dimensions: approx. 31 cm
Condition: very good, no restorations
Signature: M. Clouzot
Model number: 415
Material: Ceramic (Faience)
