Description from the seller

Exceptional centerpiece (also ideal as a serving platter or vegetable dish) of French origin. This piece perfectly combines the understated elegance and brilliance of classic metalwork with the warmth of traditional glazed ceramic, perfect for both functional use and as a statement piece in high-end décor.
-Origin: France.
-Style: Art Deco style with classical transitions (late Neoclassical style), typical of the first half of the 20th century (approximately between the 1920s and 1940s).
-Material: Silver-plated alpaca (technically known in France as Maillechort or German Silver). Includes an inner ceramic/terracotta bowl with a chocolate brown glaze.
-Marks: Features the authentic "ALPACA" stamp in two key areas: on the top of the lid and on the upper part of the inner rim of the openwork tray.
-Technique and Ornamentation:
*Tray/Base: Geometric openwork around the perimeter that lends visual lightness, finished with two elegant cast side handles featuring scrolls and acanthus leaves in a classical style.
*Lid: Smooth, mirror-polished surface with a beautiful cast top or knob in the shape of two acorns intertwined with oak leaves, a classic symbol of longevity and robustness.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The metal retains a magnificent shine with minimal superficial signs of use consistent with its age. The ceramic interior is intact, without cracks, and ready for use.
-Measurements:
*Total diameter (with handles): 33.5 cm
*Lid diameter: 27 cm
*Total height (base + lid + knob): 14 cm
*Knob height (cornutones): 3.5 cm
*Height of the openwork base: 6.5 cm
*Height of the base with the lid: 10.5 cm
-Versatility and Uses
This centerpiece stands out for its incredible versatility in both modern and classic homes:
*As a Serving Dish: Its ceramic inner pot is ideal for keeping stews, legumes, or roasts warm at the table, while the openwork base protects delicate surfaces from direct heat.
*As a Decorative Element: Placed centrally on a sideboard, dining table, or display cabinet, its polished lid captures the light, creating a sophisticated focal point.
*Independent Use: The openwork alpaca base can be used separately as an elegant openwork tray or open fruit bowl when used with the ceramic piece.
A magnificent piece that embodies the quality of European tableware, ideal for collectors or lovers of functional antiques.
