Description from the seller

Republic of the United Netherlands – Utrecht, Utrecht. Silver Ducat 1663

Silver ducat, struck in Utrecht in 1663 under mint master Johan Gerobulus. As the mint mark, the city shield of Utrecht is affixed. This type was struck without a separate mint master mark.

The year 1663 is very rare within the series of Utrecht silver ducats and appears only sporadically on the market. The specimen also bears an unknown strike. The origin and meaning of this could not be determined so far. This strike gives the coin an extra historically and numismatically interesting character.
