Icee was invented in 1958 by Omar Knedlik, owner of a Dairy Queen in Coffeyville, Kansas.
The name "Icee", as well as the company's original logo, were created by Ruth E. Taylor, a local artist and Knedlik's friend. It was she who imagined the name "Icee", as well as the idea of the ice cubes suspended from the capital letters of the logo, which has remained unchanged.
