A very rare collector’s bottle from Savanna Distillery’s discontinued Grand Arôme Collection, an emblematic series that helped introduce a wider audience to some of the most expressive single casks produced by this distillery from Réunion Island.

Distilled in 2004 and placed into cask on 15 December 2004, this Grand Arôme rum underwent a full 14 years of tropical ageing in a wet cellar. It was then bottled directly at its natural cask strength, without reduction, at an impressive 65.1% ABV.

This release comes exclusively from single cask No. 276, which yielded only 681 individually hand numbered bottles, making it a particularly limited bottling. The bottle offered here is No. 374 of 681.

Its name, “Thunderstruck – High Voltage Rum”, perfectly reflects its character: an intense, concentrated and spectacular cask-strength Grand Arôme. Its aromatic profile is known for notes of very ripe tropical fruit, fermented fruit, green olives, brine, liquorice, spices and oak, followed by a long and powerful finish deeply shaped by a long tropical ageing.

Grand Arôme is one of Savanna’s great historic specialities. Produced through an exceptionally long fermentation, generally lasting at least seven days, it develops remarkable aromatic concentration and a high level of esters.

This cask-strength rum will naturally appeal to conoisseurs of powerful rums, including those who appreciate great Jamaican ones, as well as collectors of single-cask whiskies looking for distinctive spirits bottled without reduction.

The bottle and its original presentation box also feature Savanna’s former visual identity and old logo, which have since been replaced on current releases. This period presentation further enhances its appeal to collectors of the brand.

The bottle is sealed and the fill level is excellent. The label and capsule are in very good condition. The original box shows a few light storage marks, as visible in the photographs.
