Delft - Raam - Vase - 508 - Faience - 60.5 cm, 4228 g

An exceptionally large original Delft blue lid vase in a classical baluster form with relief and lattice pattern. The vase is executed in the traditional blue-and-white colors and is entirely hand-painted with elaborate floral motifs. Due to its impressive size and elegant form, it represents a particularly decorative collectible item of the Delftware tradition.

On the underside, the manufacturer’s mark “Delfts Blauw,” the model number “508,” the country of origin designation “Holland,” the note “handgemaakt” (handmade), the rare RAAM manufactory mark with a windmill motif, and a hand-painted painter’s mark “R” can be found.

About RAAM:
RAAM was a manufactory specialized in hand-painted Delft earthenware with roots in the Dutch Delftware tradition. Production was discontinued around 1980. Because of the relatively short production period and the intricate hand painting, original RAAM pieces are now valued by collectors.

Age determination:
Based on the manufacturer’s mark, the model number 508, the typography, and the execution, the creation of this vase is dated to the period between approximately 1945 and 1980.
