Description from the seller
Magnificent Art Nouveau lamp!
Curved forged-iron lamp stem
The base of the lamp features a vegetal motif (grape leaves and a grape cluster typical of the Art Nouveau style)
The lamp is adorned with a very rare clouded glass tulip in orange and black tones from master glassmaker André Delatte
Estimated period of creation: 1921/1933
André Delatte (1887/1953) trained at FRÈRES MULLER in Lunéville, with whom he was very close; he also collaborated with LEGRAS.
He created his own company in Jarville-la-Malgrange in 1921.
With growing success, he also developed his business in Jarville and Nancy.
The economic crisis of the 1930s weakened the company, which closed its various production sites between 1933 and 1938.
André Delatte is today a renowned glassmaker, globally valued, and is considered one of the major players in the transition from Art Nouveau to Art Deco.
Weight of the tulip (glass lampshade): 276 g
Height of the tulip: 14.5 cm
Diameter at the neck: 5.6 cm
Diameter at the opening: 11.6 cm
The tulip is in good overall condition, but it has a small chip at the neck and also a glaze flaw (enamel loss) near the neck.
Apart from these two defects, which are not visible when the tulip is hung on the lamp, the tulip is in very good condition.
Weight of the lamp base: 1831 g
Maximum height of the lamp: 52 cm
Maximum width of the lamp: 29 cm
The base measures 19 cm in diameter
The electrical cord measures 134 cm
The wiring has been redone; it operates with an E14 screw-base bulb supplied with the lamp.
This antique lamp therefore works perfectly; you just need to plug it in and press the switch to illuminate your room daily with a century of history!
