Description from the seller

Large Collection of Matchbox Labels, Matchboxes and Matchbooks – The Netherlands, Belgium and Japan

An extensive and carefully assembled collection of matchbox labels, matchboxes and matchbooks from the Netherlands, Belgium and Japan. Built over many years, the collection has been systematically organised into several albums and features an impressive variety of subjects, complete series and labels from well-known manufacturers. An attractive lot for both beginning and advanced collectors.

The lot consists of:

One album containing approximately 1,500 Japanese matchbox labels dating from the 20th century.
One album containing approximately 2,420 Belgian matchbox labels.
Three albums containing approximately 10,500 Dutch matchbox labels, including many issues by De Kloof and numerous complete series.
Approximately 1,100 loose matchboxes and matchbooks from Japan, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Highlights

The collection includes numerous complete and nearly complete thematic series covering subjects such as architecture, famous cities, bridges, ships, automobiles, birds, dogs, cats, butterflies, wildlife, the Olympic Games, football, other sports, heraldry, flags, traffic signs, comics, folklore and vintage advertising.

The Japanese album is a particular highlight, containing a wide variety of beautifully designed labels depicting geishas, Kabuki theatre, temples, Mount Fuji, landscapes, restaurants, bars and traditional Japanese artwork. Almost every label is different, making it an exceptionally diverse and visually appealing collection.

The collection also features labels from many well-known manufacturers and brands, including De Kloof, Rizla, Panda, Richmond, Union, Fort, COOP, Spar, Albert Heijn, Simon de Wit, De Gruyter, Poiesz, Vomar, Mascotte, Agio, Henri Wintermans and Amphora, alongside many regional and less common issues.

The collection is generally in good condition and neatly organised in several albums.

Please study the photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description and provide the best impression of the contents and overall condition of the collection.

Total weight (including packaging): approximately 11.8 kg.

The lot will be carefully packed and shipped by registered and insured mail. Shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer.
