Description
Special vintage Staedtler 50170 desktop pencil sharpener, presumably produced in Germany around the 1960s.
This sturdy sharpener features a characterful dark red/bordeaux bakelite housing and is equipped with a metal sharpening mechanism operated by a manual crank. The transparent shavings receptacle bears the original inscription Staedtler 50170 Germany.
On the front there is the characteristic metal clamp and insert mechanism that holds the pencil in place during sharpening. The metal spiral sharpening mechanism and the transparent receptacle are removable, as clearly visible in the photos.
