AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Description German

An exceptional and extremely high-quality pair of French Empire candelabras in fire-gilt bronze, i.e., late Empire/early Restoration style. The quality of execution, the finely chased ornamentation, and the elegant proportions speak for a high-quality Paris workshop and a prominent bronzier of the era.

The candelabra each have four flames and impress with their richly worked details: finely modeled acanthus leaves, rosettes, fluted columns, floral decorations, and lion paw feet. The original fire-gilding gives the lamps an extraordinary radiance.

The pair has been professionally restored. The candle arms were aligned as far as technically possible and the surface professionally polished. The restoration alone represented a substantial expense. Small solder joints from the restoration are visible only upon very close inspection, but do not affect stability or the impressive overall impression.

They are authentic originals over 200 years old, so age- and wear-related traces are of course present and form part of the history of these extraordinary works of art.

English Description

An exceptional and extremely high-quality pair of French Empire candlesticks in fire-gilt bronze, late Empire/early Restoration era. The outstanding craftsmanship, finely chased decoration, and elegant proportions suggest the work of a distinguished Parisian bronze workshop.

Each candelabrum features four candle holders and is richly decorated with acanthus leaves, rosettes, fluted columns, floral motifs, and lion paw feet. The original fire-gilded bronze gives the pair a remarkable presence and elegance.

The candlesticks have been professionally restored. The candle arms were carefully straightened as much as technically possible, and the bronze was professionally polished. Considerable expense was invested in the restoration alone. Small solder marks from the restoration can only be seen upon very close inspection and do not affect the beauty, stability, or overall appearance.

These are authentic antiques that are over 200 years old, so normal age-related wear and signs of use should be expected and are part of their historical character.
