Description from the seller
Bauhaus-style coffee/side table in tubular steel and beech - 1930s/1950s
Magnificent modernist/Bauhaus-style occasional table dating from the mid-20th century (circa 1930–1950).
This piece is distinguished by an elegant curved chromed steel tube frame, forming a semicircular base. This ingenious design allows the base to slide easily under a sofa or chair to bring the top closer. The circular top is in solid beech, offering a warm, superb contrast with the industrial metal.
Exceptional finishing details :
- The piece has its two original light-colored wooden end caps at the ends of the tubes, a rare manufacturing detail typical of East European productions of the era (in the style of publishers Robert Slezák or Vichr & Co)
- the chromed steel base is welded to a plate attached underneath the table
In good condition for its age:
- The chrome is bright, very clean and shows no rust pitting.
- The wooden top has a very beautiful original patina: some signs of use and a small dent visible in the photos
- The structure is perfectly stable and sturdy.
Height: 42 cm; diameter 29 cm
