Up for auction is one of the most iconic and sturdy mid-format folding cameras from the pre-war period: the Zeiss Ikon Ikonta C (6x9 cm negative format on standard 120 film).
This splendid specimen of German mechanical engineering mounts the highly prized and sharp fixed Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 10.5 cm f/4.5, housed in a Compur central shutter.
Mechanics: The front-folding system opens smoothly with a press of the button and locks securely in place. The Compur shutter has been tested and fires regularly at the various speeds available.
Bellows: The black folding cloth is flexible, well-preserved visually, intact and free of evident tears.
Optics and Viewfinder: The lenses of the legendary Tessar design are clean and transparent. The Galilean finder mounted on the side is straight, sharp and stable.
Aesthetics: Good vintage condition, retaining all original era finishes with the logo engraved.
