Scraper/Drill – Maglemose/Doggerland Culture

A documented prehistoric flint tool. It is a combined scraper and drill.

Period & Culture:
* Period: Mesolithic (Middle Stone Age) to early Neolithic (New Stone Age).
* Age: About 8,000 to 5,000 years old (c. 6000 – 3000 BCE).
* Culture: This piece belongs to the Doggerland context (the submerged land bridge between England and the Netherlands) and aligns with the material culture of the hunter-gatherers of the North Sea basins region, such as the Maglemose culture.

Origin & Function:
The piece originates from the North Sea/coastal region near The Wash / Cross Sand (Great Yarmouth, United Kingdom). The finder or collector has carefully documented the tool on its natural outer surface (cortex) with ink and arrows:
* "Scraper" with two arrows pointing to the active, retouched black cutting edge (used for scraping hides or wood).
* "Drill" with an arrow to the sharp, right-angled edge on the side (a burin used for engraving bone or antler).
* Equipped with the original findspot sticker: "The Wash, Cross Sand, Great Yarmouth".
