Extremely Rare Iron Age bronze bow brooch from 800–700 BC, measuring 116.2 mm high by 54.1 mm wide and weighing 87.53 g, with an original iron needle, in very good plus condition, inherited from Belgium in 1985 with the previous owner dating from 1966.

A Very Rare Iron Time Bow Brooch, 800–700 BC.
With its impressive size and detailed design, this brooch is a magnificent example of Iron Age bronze craftsmanship.

Top condition with original needle.
This large, strongly profiled bow brooch is one of the representative garment brooches of the Near East in the early Iron Age. The strongly curved bow is divided by alternating profiled and smooth sections and features elaborate ribs and bulges. The pin holder and the foot are solidly crafted. The end of the bow is rolled into a spiral, a typical feature of Near Eastern brooches of this period.
Brooches of this type served as functional garment fasteners, but at the same time fulfilled a representative function in the context of the clothing of the wealthy classes.
