This large, strongly profiled bow brooch is one of the representative garment brooches of the Near East in the early Iron Age. The strongly curved bow is divided by alternating profiled and smooth sections and features elaborate ribs and bulges. The pin holder and the foot are solidly crafted. The end of the bow is rolled into a spiral, a typical feature of Near Eastern brooches of this period.

Brooches of this type served as functional garment fasteners, but at the same time fulfilled a representative function in the context of the clothing of the wealthy classes.
