Description from the seller

Origin. Gabon
Tribe name. Bapunou
Material. Wood
Dimension. 40 cm
Shipping mode. Colissimo within 24-48h open.

This decorative statuette presents the stylistic characteristics of a female figure from the Punu-Lumbo tradition (Gabon).

Posture: The figure is depicted in a crouched position, with bent knees, a posture common in the traditional statuary of this region.
Hair: She sports an elaborate hairstyle, characteristic of the Punu-Lumbo aesthetic canons, with a voluminous and structured shape that crowns the face.
Face and morphology: The face displays fine, stylized features. The chest is pronounced and, as can be seen particularly in the photos, there is an organic attribute (potentially related to ritual charges around the chest area).
Condition: The structure shows signs of natural wear and handling, with a dark, dense wood texture.

These statuettes were traditionally used in ritual contexts related to secret societies (such as the Mwiri or the Bwiti), often serving as spiritual intermediaries or protective figures.
