Nested cup weights - Brass

Bronze or brass cup-scale with 2x 1 pound or 500 gram cups

The scale consists of a tank (cuve) which, when empty, weighs 8 ounces (about 250 g), and three cups of 4, 2, 1 ounces, and three cups of 4, 2, 1 gros. The small central pellet of 1/2 gros is missing.

The set allows obtaining up to 16 ounces, i.e., 1 pound, per 1/2 gros increment. And 1 weight of 125 g.

This cup-scale complies with the decree of February 12, 1812, authorizing the use of the old denominations in order to facilitate the adoption of the metric system decided in 1790.

Each cup bears 2 punch marks: a crowned "Q" mark, the balance manufacturer’s mark, and a crown inside a pentagon (used between 1831 and 1847).
