A French antique travel carriage clock, estimate 1850–1900, in brass and glass with a mechanical movement, multi‑day power reserve, no striking, in good used condition, 12 × 8 × 7 cm, 145 g, with winding key, and in working order.
Description from the seller
This French travel clock dates from the period roughly 1890 – 1910 (the late Victorian or early Edwardian period).
Bloeitijd van de export (1880–1915): The combination of the engraving "FRANCE" and the English regulator dials "S / F" (Slow/Fast) points to the period when French workshops (such as Armand Couaillet) mass-produced clocks for the British and American market.
The original travel case: The leather protective box shows clear wear and needs some attention. Complete set, increases the value significantly. You open the lid of the case with a small button on the side. The glass is slightly short, probably there was a raised piece under the glass inside the case so that the glass sits to length. (see the photo).
The movement has a clock-alarm function (the small gear train/pawl wheel at the bottom is for the alarm mechanism). This makes the clock more valuable than a standard 'time-only' version (which only tells the time).
Height 12cm
Width 8cm
Depth 7cm
Weight 145 grams without the case,
Will be sent by registered mail and well packed.
