A glass bowl / compote from the “Riite” series (model 2611), designed by the eminent Finnish designer Timo Sarpaneva for the Iittala glassworks in the 1960s.
It is characterized by its unique, organic pattern on the bottom reminiscent of cracked ice and a smooth, substantial rim made of thick crystal glass.
Depending on the size, these iconic Brutalist/mid-century style vessels were originally used as exclusive ashtrays, decorative bowls, or catch-all candle holders.
The 24 cm diameter version is the largest and most sought-after variant of this series on the collectible market.
