Money box (2) - cast iron - Esso

A beautiful set of two vintage-style cast-iron piggy banks/display figures featuring the iconic Esso oil-drop mascots: 'Andy Slick' and 'Abby Slick' (in Central Europe also known as Mr. and Mrs. Tropf). The history of these characters goes back to the 1940s and 1950s, when Danish designer Vilhelm Hansen created the recognizable oil drop for Esso's advertising campaigns. These heavy, robust cast-iron reproductions are faithful reproductions of the original design and serve both as decorative collectible items and functional piggy banks. On the back there is a slot for coins; the figures can be opened at the side via a screw.
