A beautiful piece of craftsmanship from the coppersmith, this late 18th or early 19th-century cast brass bedpan. Hot coals were placed in it and then it was slid through the bed linens to chase out the worst cold.
This is an early specimen with red-brass nails and a fully brass handle.
It is a small model bedpan, so it also makes a nice decorative object.
Dimensions: length 51 cm, the bowl measures 12 x 5 cm. In good condition, the hinge works perfectly.
