Marantz - SC-6 - Serviced Preamplifier

The Marantz SC-6 belongs to the most underrated preamplifiers Marantz has ever built. It is part of the first ESOTEC series, introduced around 1979 as the absolute top tier of Marantz. The SC-6 was designed as a partner to the SM-6 power amplifier and was intended to translate the legendary Model 7 philosophy into a modern solid-state construction.

The SC-6 is fully DC-coupled and uses a highly advanced FET input stage. Marantz focused at the time on extremely low distortion, minimal TIM (Transient Intermodulation Distortion), and an exceptionally flat frequency response. The circuits are largely built in push-pull Class A configurations with a short signal path.

The unit has some scratches and the side panels are no longer in excellent condition.
