Ancestor figures - Losso - Togo

A pair of beautiful ancestoral figures from the north of Togo. They come from a small ethnic group called Losso.
These figures were placed on familly altars to be consulted in times of need. To make consultation easier these figures are then poured over with liquids and ritual powders.; hence the thic black patina on these figures.
Very abstract csrving; almost a drum-like figure with a rudimentary flat head emerges. These figures were collected in Togo in the late 1990,s and are from a private Dutch collection. Height.; 21 and 22 cm.
