Giancarlo Piretti (considered by critics "the Thonet of the 20th century") revolutionized the concept of the folding chair; brilliantly, the three-disk hub-and-pin hinge system. The combination of chromed steel and polypropylene seat/backrest (in this case in smoky brown) paved the way for the success of the Plia chair, still exhibited in the design sector at MoMA in New York. Anonima Castelli, a historic Italian company founded in 1877 in Bologna, is synonymous with style and high quality, an icon of Made in Italy.
